Who we are

Founded by husband and wife team Ray Mitcham and Lindsay Koblitz, Seven22 Wine Company is all about crafting world-class wines made from 100% Maryland grapes. We have both enjoyed long careers in the wine industry, and this project is a product of our combined love of all things wine.

We are excited to be bringing the lifelong dream of creating our own wine to fruition, and invite you to grab a glass (or bottle) and enjoy our wines as wine is meant to be enjoyed - in the presence of good food and with family and friends.

Ray Mitcham

Ray has been a driving force in the East Coast winemaking scene since 2005, crafting his legacy one bottle at a time. He kicked off his career in Southern Pennsylvania, and it wasn’t long before he found his true calling as the Head Winemaker at Linganore Winecellars. With a profound passion for enology and a keen eye for detail, Ray has become known for producing expressive, high-quality wines that showcase a diverse range of styles.

But Ray’s talents don’t stop there. As a sought-after consultant, he’s worked with numerous wineries and vineyards throughout the Mid-Atlantic, helping them develop and refine their winemaking programs with an expert touch. Recently, he took on the exciting challenge of leading the winemaking at Simple Theory Wine Co., all while simultaneously launching Seven22 alongside Lindsay. His deep knowledge and relentless commitment to the craft continue to shape the future of East Coast wines.

Like many in the wine world, Lindsay’s path to her current role wasn’t always set in stone. Initially studying Chemistry in college, she was working a day job in the lab and part-time at a restaurant—which is where the magic happened. Introduced to the world of fine wine, Lindsay found herself captivated by its complexities. From behind the counter at Boston’s bottle shops to earning her Sommelier Certification, her passion only grew stronger.

In 2015, Lindsay packed her bags and set off for Napa Valley, planning to work a single harvest. Instead of returning to Boston, her journey took her from the heart of California’s wine country to the rolling vineyards of Northern Virginia, and ultimately to Maryland. Along the way, she honed her skills in winemaking, crafting her expertise in wineries across the country.

These days, when Lindsay isn’t collaborating with Ray on their Seven22 wines, she works for an online wine marketplace. But it’s not all work—in her free time she’s cooking up something delicious, traveling to new destinations, or enjoying quality time with Ray and their spirited three-year-old son, Rhys.
